How can I get involved?
There a many ways in which you could get involved in NHS research as a service user (patient) or carer. We are always interested to hear from people who are keen to work with NHS teams to help them design research projects to look at problems that are important to people who use NHS services.

There are 3 main ways that you could get involved:

Projects
by working with NHS staff to improve their studies, helping to make sure that the research will improve services for patients and their carers. We often need help when preparing the written information that is given to patients about research studies making sure that the information available to patients about research is written in such a way that everyone can understand what they are being asked to take part in. This is called active involvement and if you are interested in this important aspect of NHS research please get in touch using the contact form at the bottom of this page and we'll get back to you.

Reviews
we regularly gives feedback to researchers on their applications for funding. As part of this service we are always looking for members of the public who would be willing to read research funding applications and provide comments to the researchers so that they can improve their applications. Find out more about getting involved in reviewing health and social care research grant applications.

Service user led research
if you have an idea for a research project that involves NHS services, we may be able to put you in touch with clinical teams with similar interests.
